Sharon Smith-Thomas, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Sharon Smith-Thomas, MD, FACOG, provides expert care in the field of obstetrics and gynecology to patients at Lucina Women's Health and Midwifery located in Boca Raton, Florida.  

Dr. Smith-Thomas graduated from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica, with honors in Biochemistry and Zoology. She then went on to pursue her medical degree at the Mona Campus of the university, where she graduated at the top of the class, with honors. She trained in family medicine for two years at Louisiana State University in Monroe County, before being accepted into the residency program at Rochester General Hospital in New York, where she was able to pursue her true passion in life: obstetrics and gynecology. During her residency, she received multiple resident awards including the Berlex teaching award and the Dr. James Craig Potters award for the resident who is industrious, hardworking, honest, kind, skilled, and learns from each patient.  

Prior to moving to South Florida, she practiced for five years in Gallup, New Mexico, where she gained vast clinical experience in diabetes and hypertension. She has been practicing in the Boca Raton and Boynton Beach areas for the past 10 years. Dr. Smith-Thomas has a special interest in general obstetrics, office-based minimally invasive gynecology procedures, and general gynecology—including gynecological surgery, adolescent gynecology, incontinence, and prolapse. Her current hospital affiliations include Boca Raton Regional, Bethesda Memorial, and West Boca Medical Center.  

Dr. Smith-Thomas is married and has two daughters. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and gardening. She believes in patient wellness, that is, physical and mental wellbeing are important for successful patient outcomes. She, therefore, emphasizes listening to patients and addressing their concerns. She enjoys spending time with her patients to understand their needs.
