What in-office procedures do you offer?

Lucina Women's Health and Midwifery offers several in-office procedures for your convenience. They include:

What is an ultrasound?

Ultrasound is a noninvasive way to view your internal pelvic organs and diagnose many conditions, including uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts.

During an ultrasound, a sterile wand glides across your lower pelvic region or is placed in your vagina to view organs such as the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, and bladder. An ultrasound helps inform your diagnosis if you have symptoms such as:

  • Abnormal bleeding
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Pelvic pain

Women who are pregnant also benefit from regularly scheduled ultrasounds to check their baby’s development, gender, and overall health.

What is a hysteroscopy?

A hysteroscopy provides an in-depth exam of the inside of your uterus. Your doctor inserts a thin, lighted tube called a hysteroscope into your vagina to view your cervix and the uterine interior.

The procedure can sometimes become operative, during which your doctor uses small instruments they insert through the hysteroscope to correct specific conditions such as polyps or small fibroids. 

Whether your hysteroscopy is diagnostic or treatment-oriented, it’s always offered in-office at Lucina Women's Health and Midwifery, so you don’t have to travel to another site or provider for the procedure.

Can I get a mammogram in-office?

Mammograms are essential screening tools to detect breast cancer early. It’s suggested you get a yearly mammogram from age 45-55 and then once every two years after that. Mammograms use low-dose radiation to produce an X-ray image of your breasts and observe any abnormalities or changes.

At Lucina Women's Health and Midwifery, the team offers digital mammograms. The images are analyzed and stored on a computer rather than on film, as with older technology.
